Is it truth? Thingh# 23

I GUESS IS TRUTH!
Are the coaches going to be available after the summer in case we encounter some clouds in the sky? I want to make the implementation of the 23#things my technology goal for this year.
Thank you very much for all that help me along the way.

What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey?

The first discovery was how little I Know about what is out there in the web, but it is not my favorite one. You won't believe it, but my favorite one was thing #21 (That was the hardest for me), wikies, fliker and PandoraI also enjoyed.

How has this program assisted or affected your lifelong learning goals?

It just opened one more door to keep my lifelong leaarning goals moving.
Were there any take-a-ways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?

The time it takes you to do each thing !
What could we do differently to improve upon this program’s format or concept?

Some of the things were not as explicit as they should be. First you go to A and press the red bottom on the right, Second, you highlight what you want to...etc. Some of us do not have the basic knowledge.

I think it should be divided in parts. Each part should be worth it X amount of staff development. Some times one particular thing # takes you no less that Hour and a half

Some things have more than one thing within. Maybe separate them?.
If we offered another discovery program like this in the future, would you choose to participate?

Absolutely!
How would you describe your learning experience in ONE WORD or in ONE SENTENCE, so we could use your words to promote 23 Things learning activities?

Challenging but worth it!
Now go and comment on some of the other Players' blogs

Can you belive it!... thing #22

I visited the three sites for Ning Teacher Librarian Ning,Texas School Librarian Ning,Ning for Teachers, Very entertaining and I know you can learn a lot from it.I like the post of teacher asking for help on a topic. Did any one read the one of "Do you rely need classroom rules? or the one about"Don't smile before Christmas?.But, this is not for me right now. I will not going to be using it soon. I thing that some of the reason teacher get burn out is because we don't separate well the two words: in and out of the school. We need to find a balance an keep it. This is going to be one of my goals this school year. How many days a week am I going to bring stuff to do at home?

thing #21

I don't know what i did different today but it is working. i went back to the story clicked two pictures and went to save it and post it. i don't know what happen at the end. That was supposed to be the last picture but the narration continues until the end. I m going to tray another book because I want to know how to do it perfectly well before school start.

Second try

HElP!!!!!!!!!!!with thing #21

If this was thing #4 or 5 I probably had quit! All day long I worked on this. First I use Audacity to record some one reading the book and add music from Pandora, then take pictures for the book, after that I created my video using photostory, and the last thing a registered and try to upload it on switchpod and the result: FAILUR
But, I like to be positive. The viedo is saved in my computer and I watched it :) in the worst case I can burn a cd and play it in my classroom. JA, JA, (Read it like an H) Tomorrow, maybe Sunday we will do a second version I really wanted to post it, it was really cute!

Thing #19 :)

Sorry, my finger was ahead of me. I went directly to organization section and watched the videos on backpack. I like all the things you can do in one page. It reminded me of many tools that we have learn but in one page like, calendar, wikis, add pictures, reminders, notes, files, etc.
For the librarian, Principals, SIS it would be a grate help to have everything in one page...I think.
I love Pandora music where you can create a radio station. I'm thinking I can utilize this one during my writing workshop. I like to play classical music during this time and sometimes I forget to take the CD out or I don't remember which one was the last one I used. I am listening Mozart while typing this.
I also like the Ifoods. I am a visual learner so I like to watch the how to.

Thing #19 aaaaaaaaahhh!

THing#17 I did it :(

Very frustrating. I did what TH suggested in my previous post , once I entered the sites and went for search a lot of things came back, some related and some not. And when I check my profile it said that I don't have any thing save. I did it again and did not see any "save "button.

Thing # 18 Yes! I am skipping :(

I 'am a little frustrated with thing #17 so.... I am skipping it.

I visited Google documents and open office. Open office was almost like visiting a do it yourself decoration store where there are a lot of things you want to get and do but you know you don't have time and knowledge to do so. Does it make sense? It is something that I will like to explore in the future an REALLY take advantage on that.
When I first visited Google document I have my kids on mind and did not think I was going able to use it, but after several #things I am thinking about using it with my team. I think it is going to help us before planning time where all of us have made some additions or changes. What do you thing ? any one have done something like that?

Thinh # 16 Wikis

I like this thing . One of the must important concepts to work on in Kinder is to develop their vocabulary. We like to do alphabets with the unit that we are taking about, plants, rocks,Texas etc. I am thinking that maybe we can use wiki with this concept. The children can make the trading card ( Thing #3) and then we will add it to wiki. What do you think? They can even see it in a slide show format.

I will like to use it with the bilingual kg teachers. We are going nuts with the implementation of the bilingual centers and this can be a hit!

When I was in the sandbox I did not see spelling check box, did I miss it?

Thing #15 WALL-E

Yes! we have to change even if we don't feel comfortable at first. The children on this days come wired different that we did. When I choose to use Tumble books from the Library resources page the attention of my children is 100 % ,they remember more and they want to participate more than after a person reads the book. That is sad! Yes, libraries are going to change, I'm not sure what is going to happen with the paper books in 10 years or more ( I hope is more). Are we very far from the movie WALL-E, when the captain ask the computer : "define earth" and you can see in the screen all the pictures of what computer is saying.

I don't think the school system is moving as fast as the children need to. For example the use of technology in the classroom doesn't get promoted and supported ( how many computers are in each classroom for 18-22 children) as much as we need to. Does any one remember when we had a technology person in each campus, and they taught technology lesson for the kids each week? If a class of 20 children are with a teacher that doesn't know and does not want to know about "computer stuff" does children are bummed for a YEAR!

I am grateful that I decided to do 23 Things!

Thing # 14

It is very interesting the point of view of the people that work at technorati . Giving back the power of information to the people who wants to know "just that information" with out any specific agendas and political interest.

I was shocked when I saw that one of the searches for tags with higher numbers were 23andme !
I'm thinking about claiming my blog, maybe I will get more kinder teachers.
By the way, I saw the blog of one of the players that are out and she is a kinder teacher. I wonder Why she stop! she had good ideas :)

Thing #13

This was overwhelming! There is a lot to look at and go to.
Thinking about my class, how to use it? ....No way.
For older kids will be grate if they are doing a project in one subject and tag their findings for all to see.

Thing #12...back and for #11

Very interesting ....

One of the things that I have felt through out this process is lonlines. Some times I feel that I am lost in space all by myself.

I spend hours reading all the list of the sb players I have notice that the persons that leave comments are the same for that particular blog. I assumed they know the blogger and are encouraging one and other. (This is not truth for every single one)

I haven't noticing conversations growing in each particular topic. I am wondering if this is because the majority of us is knew at blogging and did not read 10 Techniques to Get More Comments on Your Blog before? or because we are to busy going on " thing after thing"

This is me, First, I tried to leave comments several times before but when I got to the user and password I had a hard time remember my information :( I finally figure it out.

Second, I did not payed attention to my previous post. If I did not get a comment right away in the "Thing" I just posted I didn't even had the curiosity to see my past . I apologist to my readers and I promise I will look back more often ( I'm very much on the here and Know )

Third, I'm so knew at this that I feel uncomfortable commenting in such a well posted blogs. Reading "Jakob Nielsen’s latest study finds that 90% of online community users are lurkers " from the 10 Techniques to get More Comments on your Blog I realize that If I don't one to feel

"Alone" I have to become more proactive,so.....

I will like to Know if you are a Kinder teacher or will be a Kinder teacher next fall or if you know of some kinder teachers that are doing the 23 Thing.

I was reading this morning a blog with the Title "Children Teaching Children" ( I'm sorry I don't have the exact information I did not saved it and know I am sorry) about a project of 5 grade teachers that are going to try to have students podcast there reading techniques they are learning from the series of Lucy Calkins. I thought that was a wonderful idea and I was wondering if my kinder kids will be able to do something like that. What do you think about this? I will love your opinions on the idea. Do you think is crazy, possible, nightmare, brilliant?

Thing # 11 Back and for...#12

I read thing 11 and of course was not easy for me, when I was ready to add my books and thought I had finish and zap! nothing was there Bored student:9546 .

Well ,that upset me ,besides I was searching for books in Spanish and several were not there. Like in every thing ( the 11 I had done)I was thinking about how to use it with my class. I even choose a user and password thinking about my kids. This was not friendly. I quited.

I started reading thing # 12 and one of "the etiquette" caught my eyes. " Before you write a comment be sure you read completely..." WHAT A CONCEPT !( facetious , perhaps?).

You guessed it I went back to # 11 and read the instructions from A to Z and VIOLA! I added my books to my shelf. Still did not get my Spanish titles.

I view some of the groups and found one where I saw the video of one of the books we are reading NOW! I'm going to see it tomorrow with my kids. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWIdkYk9fQM
